A team of diverse professionals serving the aging population in Berks County and dedicated to assisting their adult children, has come together to provide the Aging Parent Fair. The Fair provides attendees with financial resources, care alternatives, assistive services and connections to the people and programs who can serve them and their loved ones.
The “Aging Parent Fair” is a health fair styled event geared specifically to adult, middle aged children (40-60 years old) who find themselves caring for aging parents and loved ones. Most of these children are juggling responsibilities both at work and home and are often challenged to find the proper care and alternatives for their loved ones.
“Dealing with aging parents is a stressful time. Whether adult children are planning ahead or dealing with an immediate crisis, they all seem to be seeking similar information. Adult children are looking to find out what services are available, what financial resources can help pay for services, what happens when the money runs out and how do they deal with stubborn parents. The Aging Parent Fair brings together professionals that are available, face to face, to answer questions like these,” says Wendy Kerschner, Territory Manager at Comfort Keepers.
The “Aging Parent Fair” will be held on Thursday, April 16 at Webb Medical (6-A Parkside Avenue, Shillington – across from Kmart). Open to the public. Drop in hours are from 5pm-7pm. Admission is free.
The “Aging Parent Fair” is available to churches, service organizations and larger employers wanting to provide senior care and information resources to their congregations, members, communities and employees. Those interested in hosting an “Aging Parent Fair” can contact Wendy Kerschner, Territory Manager of Comfort Keepers, at (610) 413-1995.
Future AGING PARENT FAIR date is June 10 at Berks AAA, 920 Van Reed Road, Wyomissing.
