Kutztown Community Partnership awarded National Accreditation for its Main Street Program

The Pennsylvania Downtown Center has awarded the Kutztown Community Partnership recognition as a Nationally Accredited Main Street Program, Nancy Brooks, KCP Main Street Manager announced.

“This is an exciting step on our journey to a more vibrant community,” said Brooks. “You can see the energy coming together in Kutztown and this award will help accelerate momentum for the future.”

The award was based on a strict regimen of 39 criteria and recognizes KCP’s successes in supporting or expanding such efforts as the neighborhood watch program KUBOK and other safety programs, community Main Street block parties, Kutztown Strong, Main Street Christmas, the Kutztown Kruizz and community and neighborhood clean-ups. Additionally, KCP has offered strong promotional support to local businesses.

According to their mission statement, the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, founded in 1987, is designed to build and support the capacity of local nonprofit organizations, municipalities and individuals to enhance the overall well-being and sustainability of Pennsylvania’s communities.

This national accreditation will open the resources of the Pennsylvania Downtown Center to KCP which will include technical support, additional credibility in their grant applications, training run by the experts in the Community Revitalization Academy and access to grants for special projects.

“It is a great honor for Kutztown,” said Brooks, “and makes it clear that Kutztown is on it’s way to a more vital future.”
