Morgantown’s Carnival “Committee of Ten,” led by Pauly Whiteman, whom also serves as a Caernarvon Township (Berks) Supervisor, is firing on all cylinders-err-“candles.”

With two deposits issued on Monday, April 13, – one for “Tons of Fun” Amusements; the other for “International Fireworks (both from Douglasville) – the Committee is “not turning back.”

In other words, in true Carney-speak, “The Show Will Go On!”

The New Morgantown Carnival will be held for five summer days, June 9 to 13, from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 4 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, at the “old” Carnival Grounds. This is adjacent to the S. Clyde Smith Ball field, which is managed by the non-profit Morgantown Athletic Association.

The New Morgantown Carnival, says Whiteman, is a “throwback to the future.”

“We’re bringing the tradition of the five-week, once a weekend carnival back, but upping the ante with five days of modern rides, tons of booths full of food, fun, and friends, lots of entertainment, and of course, now a fantastic fireworks display.”

And in the true spirit of community, the Morgantown Athletic Association is pitching in by donating use of some ground space to ensure the Carnival is a grand slam.

The “Carnival Ten” Committee is offering non-profit organizations first-dibs for fireworks sponsorships and tent/booth rentals.

According to committee member Kelly Startzmann, three levels of fireworks sponsorship are available, ranging in price from minimal to larger contribution for three sign sizes: 18″x24″, 24″x33″ and 48″x48″. The largest sponsor size also includes sponsor name on the Carnival T-shirt.

The signs will be hung at the Carnival for the length of the event.

Both the 12’x12′ non-electrified tent spaces, which will line the midway, and the 12’x12′ electrified enclosed booths, rent for reasonably low rental fees for the entire week.

Non-profit organizations are invited to rent carnival vendor spaces first. After May 1, the spaces will be open to all local vendors and organizations.

Spaces can be used to sell food or host a game or contest. Foods that are prohibited are those that are being sold by the amusement company: candy apples, cotton candy, snow cone, candy/caramel apples, funnel cakes, fried Oreos, loaded fries, corn dogs, chicken fingers, nachos, fresh lemonade, orangeade, and sweet tea drinks.

Vendors must supply table, chairs and pop-up tent.

Vendors are required to occupy and be present in the space for the entire length of the carnival.

Any proceeds you make are yours to keep. Payment for the space is due when the reservation is made.
