Congressman Patrick Meehan (PA-07) congratulated Twin Valley High School junior Brianna Bonaduce on April 20 on winning “Best in Show” in the 2015 Congressional Art Contest in Pennsylvania’s 7th District.

The ceremony, held at the Darlington Arts Center in Garnet Valley, Delaware County, highlighted the submissions of more than 100 students from across the district.

Bonaduce’s work, entitled “Self Portrait”, will be displayed for the public along with other winners from across the country in the United States Capitol.

“I have the chance to walk past winning art pieces on my way to the House floor to vote,” said Congressman Meehan. “I congratulate Brianna on this honor and I look forward to welcoming her and her family to Washington when we formally put her work on display in the Capitol complex. I also want to congratulate all winners and runners-up in each category. It’s inspiring to see the creativity and raw talent of all the winners each year, and this year is no exception.”

This year, a record 111 pieces of art were submitted for participation in the competition representing 14 area high schools. Winners were chosen in several different categories. A panel of four local art experts judged the competition.

“I’m grateful for the participation of so many gifted students this year, and I’m also thankful for the support and advice of art teachers and mentors at high schools across the region. The Congressional Art Contest has a long tradition of showcasing the artistic gifts of our nation’s high school students. It’s a tradition I’m proud to continue and I thank all of those who submitted their works to the competition this year,” said Meehan.

All the winning pieces will be displayed at the Darlington Arts Center until May 2.
