Elverson martial arts, self-defense and health and wellness instructor writes, publishes book ‘Martial Thought Matters’

Anthony Lorenzo, a Chester County native and Elverson resident and the owner of Villari’s Self Defense Center in Elverson, has self-published the 157-page book, “Martial Thought Matters,” a guide to thinking about personal protection, self defense and the martial arts.

In the book’s 25 chapters, the author assesses a variety of personal protection and self-defense concepts. Also included are interviews with two karate masters and case studies about self-defense.

Lorenzo-a fourth degree Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate-has more than 14 years of experience in the martial arts and self-defense and 17 years of health and wellness training. He has taught Tai Chi and personal defense classes at Reading Area Community College, and more than a dozen separate Tai Chi and karate classes throughout Chester and Berks counties.

Lorenzo, who said he focuses on helping people “find their own abilities and their own voice,” has a master’s degree in history from West Chester University, West Chester, and a BA in Asian Studies from Temple University, Philadelphia.
