Daniel Boone Middle School had another great showing at the Pennsylvania State Technology Student Association (PA-TSA) conference. It was from Wednesday, April 15-Saturday, April 18. TSA is a club that fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); members apply and integrate these concepts through co-curricular activities, competitions, and related programs. This past conference had 44 middle school chapters and 84 high school chapters from across the state of Pennsylvania for a total of 1740 students in attendance; including judges, guests, advisers and judges the total number at the conference was 2,185, the largest in Pennsylvania’s history!

This conference allows students to compete in a wide array of technology – every part of technology is touched, from building, to research, to computer based technology. Some building competitions involve finding a need in the community and building something to meet that need, solar car construction, bridge building, airplane building,

problem solving construction; some research ones are researching a medical technology and how it affects people, researching an environmental issue, mapping out a geospatial grid, researching an energy source for our area and creating a proposal; the others are computer based: video game creation, poster design, screen printing, website design, pin design, video creation, desktop publishing, and so many more.
