The Kutztown Area School District Education Foundation is honored to announce the 2015 Kutztown Area High School Distinguished Alumni recipients. Sally (Breidegam) Miksiewicz, Class of 1980, posthumous recipient, and Stephen Slick, Class of 1976, will be honored at a Distinguished Alumni Reception on June 3.

Ms. Miksiewicz served as the CEO and Vice Chairman of East Penn Manufacturing. For 29 years, she was a driving force in the company that carried out the legacy of two previous generations of her family. She also served the community as a member of many committees and boards. Ms. Miksiewicz is honored posthumously for her corporate leadership, community service, and humanitarian accomplishments. Her influence is greatly missed by the Kutztown and surrounding communities. As a continuing tribute to Ms. Miksiewicz, a Kutztown Area High School vocal music scholarship in her memory is being initiated that evening.

Stephen Slick served nearly three decades in various roles at the CIA, including an appointment as a special assistant to President George W. Bush at the White House. He was recently named the inaugural Director of the Intelligence Studies Project at the University of Texas at Austin where he is also a Clinical Professor at the University’s LBJ School of Public Affairs. Mr. Slick is honored for his many years of distinguished service to the public while serving within the Intelligence Community and at The National Security Council.

In addition to sponsoring the Distinguished Alumni program, the KASD Education Foundation raises and administers scholarship funds for students graduating from Kutztown Area High School. Monies are also raised to support school district innovative education initiatives. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, and, therefore, donor contributions are tax deductible. Individuals who wish to establish scholarships or donate to existing funds, can send inquiries to the Education Foundation at P.O. Box 346, Kutztown, PA 19530.
