A combination yard sale and book sale will be held in the Shartlesville Community Park on North 4th Street in Shartlesville that benefits the Shartlesville Community Library. In addition to the unexpected items found at yard sales, the Book Sale will be a source of homemade treats, including soup and barbeques, for anyone attending. Books available at great prices include hardbound items, paperbacks and children’s selections. Any books remaining after the sale are donated to the Book Bonanza, benefitting the libraries in the Berks County Library System.
The seventh annual Book Sale is planned for Saturday, May 23, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Shartlesville 250th Anniversary commemorative t-shirts and shot glasses will be available at the book sale for attendees who would like an early opportunity to purchase limited edition anniversary souvenirs.
Shartlesville Community Library hours are planned for Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. The staff of volunteers, led by Peggy Seitzinger and Diane Ross as officers of the Board of Directors, hope to open the library in June in time for the summer park program.
Funds from the book sale will help to cover library costs for insurance, utilities, and ongoing projects.
According to Seitzinger, “the generosity of the community organizations has been encouraging, as well as the book donations we receive almost on a weekly basis throughout the year from members of our community as well as other communities. It has been a rewarding experience, and we look forward to our future.”
