In the building formerly occupied by Young Ones, home-based eBay store friendlydutchman opened a 2,500 square foot, physical store at 59 Constitution Blvd., Kutztown.

After more than five years of selling from a home-based eBay store, owner Adam Weaver opened the physical store recently next to the village Square Shopping Center and launched a website at www.friendlydutchman.net.

Weaver is a Pennsylvania Dutchman by birth, friendly by choice. Hence the name, friendlydutchman. He has more than 30 years of local retail experience. Assisted by his wife, Nora and Grandson Jaden, this is a small business that does not flaunt mass merchandising, but is here to give the community another local friendly source for new products at a savings.

Merchandise is acquired through various liquidation auctions in large lots of mostly new items. One may think of the store as a “scratch & dent” hardware store along with some unrelated products. Selection changes constantly.

Generally the items are being liquidated because they are discontinued, overstocked, end-of-season, clearance, returns etc. All items go through a staging area where they are evaluated before going out on the sales floor.

Because this is a liquidation store, all sales are final, no returns, credits or exchanges. While some of the items may qualify for manufacturer’s warranty this store does not register warranties or process claims.

Business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Store is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
