The new 2015 Berks County Dairy Princess and Li’l Miss Dairy Princess were crowned during the 2015 Berks County Dairy Princess Coronation Banquet on Saturday, May 9 at Mohrsville Church of the Brethren.

Kelsie Burkhart, of Bernville, will take over Princess duties from 2014 Berks County Dairy Princess and current PA State Dairy Princess Ashley Mohn.

“I want to be Dairy Princess because I can promote professionalism, leadership, service and fellowship,” she said during the impromptu Princess-elect question portion of the night. “I believe I could be a good representative of the dairy industry by showing all of that.”

Burkhart who attended The King’s Academy and graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School learned about dairy while attending Delaware Valley College where she majored in Agribusiness. Until that point, her main interest was horses and during the night she shared the story of how she came about getting her first horse.

Her entertainment for the evening was a speech on the dairy industry and more importantly, the dairy farmers.

“In order for us to live, we need farmers to grow our food,” said Burkhart. “Every day I spend with a dairy farmer is a wonderful day in my eyes.”

Mohn also gave a speech and presentation on her exciting year as the Berks County Dairy Princess.

“Seven thousand, six hundred eighteen miles. That’s how many miles I traveled this year as Berks County Dairy Princess,” said Mohn. “My year was packed with many promotions and memories were created that I will keep for a lifetime.”

“I would never have guessed how close I would come to Miss Alyssa,” she continued speaking on the relationship between her and the 2014 Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess. “Thank you Alyssa, for always having a smile.”

Mohn also thanked those who supported her throughout the year including Berks County.

Alternate Dairy Princess Megan Notestine also shared memories from her year.

Kalina Rhoads, 5 of Barto, was crowned 2015 Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess. Competing with Rhoads in this year’s contest were Heidi Eisenhower, of Bethel, Presley Sattazahn, of Womelsdorf, Chloe Shealer, of Auburn, and Allyson Templin, of Birdsboro.

Rhoads was crowned by Troutman. Later, Troutman shared her dairy song with the audience one last time and shared a poem she wrote for Mohn.

“Ashley is my favorite princess in the whole world,” said Troutman.

The night always featured the Frances Davis Above & Beyond Award which went to Ashely Mohn and recognition of the Dairy Ambassadors and sponsors.
