Morgantown Area Business Association held its annual spring Expo at the Morgantown Crossings Mall on Saturday, May 16.
Route 23 drivers were rubber necking to see the colorful display of community law enforcement vehicles, fire engines, EMT vehicles, a 1967 Cessna 158 airplane along with multiple business booths on exhibit in the Mall parking lot.
There was ample parking and the attraction drew a community wide crowd that visited the various displays and got to talk to local business owners and find out what is happing locally. The usual ‘whose new in town and neighborly talk’ always adds to the day.
Pipper the Clown, provided by MABA, was kept busy making balloon animals for the children. Kids were a huge feature of the day as they traveled from Pipper the Clown to the huge Moon Bounce Slide provided by Enos Stolzfus and Lowes Free Kids Clinic where craft kits were available for the kids to build their own toys. Every Saturday they offer a free kids clinic in store, parents can register online.
MABA VP of Marketing KC Trost, of Farmers Insurance in Elverson, and VP of Events Kelly Spica, Susquehanna Bank, expressed their thanks and gratitude for Lowes helping to make the event a great success.
Trost and his wife Pam had all four of their children at the event Megan 5, Laura 2, Pink 8, and Ryan, 11 months. “We are happy for the great weather, the turnout and thanks to Lowes for hosting crafts for kids,” Trost said.
“I am very impressed with all the hard work and dedication that went into the Expo by our members. Many thanks also to Lowes. It was an awesome day,” said Spica.
One of the true highlights of the day was the Tri County Flying Club Exhibit. Bruce Baer CPA and Marlin Lantz, two of the 18 members of the club, were on hand to talk about the classic 1967 Cessna 158 airplane on display.

Sergeant John Scalia, Officer in Charge of the Caernarvon Township Police Department, was there in his police vehicle.
“Today is a good day for Morgantown, showing that the economy is coming around and people are out here to find out what we have going in the township,” said Scalia.
Walking down the midway was MABA President Linda Lovenstein, watching that everything was flowing as planned. She, along with Vanessa Sheidy, were promoting the Morgantown Holiday Inn at its booth. Linda was all smiles, “What a great day, the whole community pulled together to promote the Expo.”
Beaming with her group of friends and dogs was MABA VP of Membership Roseann Thomas in her A2A Vacuum booth. She is a local figure and has been a member and officer of the organization for many years. Cuddling on her lap were Teddy Bear, FiFi and Henry the latest member of family of pups.
“Well, isn’t everything just going great. Let me introduce Enos Stoltzfus of Honey Brook and his children. He took care of installing the big tent and renting us the moon bounce,” said Thomas.
The food and drink stands were plentiful. Caernarvon Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary of Churchtown were manning their home baked goods stand of whoopie pies, donuts, shoofly and pecan pies. They had homemade BBQ and soups along with all kinds of drinks.
There was a lemonade stand with homemade lemonade, a beer truck, a Miller-Keystone blood mobile, a chiropractor with massage chair, Verizon, insurance companies, to name a few.
MABA supports businesses in the surrounding communities. MABA also supports municipal law enforcement and emergency response agencies in the local community. They also work with the local high school and other agencies to promote business education. All area businesses are encouraged to join and participate in MABA activities and events.
