Love coffee? Enjoy the outdoors? If so, you can enjoy both while supporting an area couple’s upcoming missionary work in Italy. Elverson residents Bob and Sue Kummer will soon be on their way to Italy to provide outreach services on behalf of Crossworld, an organization that works to establish churches while supporting communities. Helping them raise the funds to do so are Twin Valley Coffee and Buckman’s Ski and Snowboard Shops. Both retailers are offering product discounts, with a portion of sales going directly to the Kummers’ mission.

A couple that has made missionary work their own life’s mission, the Kummers have been involved in serving others for more than 28 years, and have been part of Crossworld since 2005. The organization describes itself as, “Disciple-makers from all professions bringing God’s love to life in the world’s least-reached marketplaces.”

Community Outreach in ItalyIn addition to their Crossworld pastoral roles, the Kummers’ mission will focus on serving the residents of Sesto Calende, a community just north of Milan, Italy. The couple will provide community support in the areas of employment, life skills, women’s services and teen outreach. “With high unemployment in the area, knowing how to speak English can open doors to jobs,” notes Bob Kummer. “So, we’ll be providing free English classes at the church, in area high schools, and through summer day camps.” The Kummers will also be involved with a local Crisis Pregnancy Center, provide instruction to teens in maintenance repair, carpentry and construction skills, and work to strengthen family relationships through family hiking trips and other outdoor experiences.

The Kummers will also be assisting the area’s international business community, helping expatriates like themselves manage the unique challenges of living and raising families in an overseas environment.
