Cub Scouts from Pack 183 and Boy Scouts from Troop 183 on May 21 assisted members of the Fleetwood Legion in placing flags on the graves of veterans at Berks Memorial Gardens and later participated in the Fleetwood Memorial Day Parade.

The Horace M. Kieffer Legion Post #625, Fleetwood, Memorial Day Parade started at 9 a.m. at the Fleetwood Community Center, and proceeded east on Arch Street with the first service at the Fleetwood Cemetery, then continued west on Main Street for a service at St. Paul’s Union Cemetery. Parade commenced in the park with the main service at the Community Park band shell on West Main Street. Guest Speaker was Navy Veteran Scott Heffelfinger. Music was provided by the Fleetwood High School Band. Honor Guard Services were provided by the Fleetwood American Legion Post # 625. Additional participants included Pastor Patrick Morris, Fleetwood Borough officials, local civic organizations, youth groups, local businesses, and hundreds of individuals who pay tribute to our veterans who have sacrificed so much for this great country.

After the parade, Chris Young of Fleetwood Borough said photos were taken under a large American flag, asking anyone who wanted to show support for the flag to join in the group photo. All of the more than 200 people in attendance participated in the photo.
