Jessica Schaeffer always dreamed of opening her own daycare center after having her own in-home daycare. In April of 2014, she opened Little Sprouts Daycare LLC in an old doctor’s office on Main Street in Strausstown (this center will remain open until May of next year). After only a year, Schaeffer saw it was time to expand the center to a larger location which happened to be in Bernville.
“I picked this location because this is my hometown where I grew up and still live,” said Schaeffer.
The new center is located at 7168 Bernville Road, Bernville, next to Boyer’s Food Market. To celebrate, Schaeffer and staff held an open house for existing clients as well as perspective new clients on April 18.
Little Sprouts Daycare’s new location offers not only more space, but also a much more open space. The three rooms are separated for infant, toddler and preschool children. Schaeffer even created an enclosed outside area that features a grass side and mulch side for the children to play.
The daycare provides all meals, diapers and wipes, and full curriculum for all ages aligned with the state’s early learning standards. Along with infant, toddler and preschool programs, the center offers school care and school age summer camp.
“We are fulfilling a great need in the area for reliable and trustworthy care,” said Schaeffer, who has a degree in early education as well as experience having worked at a larger daycare previously.
Little Sprouts Daycare LLC is a fully state licensed and operating child care and learning center and is currently a STAR 1 center in the Keystone STARS program. Child care is provided to children six weeks and up through a full preschool program.
“I wanted it to be cozy,” Schaeffer said at the open house last year for the Strausstown center. “They will get to know the other kids and teachers better this way.”
Joining Schaeffer at the daycare are five highly qualified and experience staff members who all have backgrounds in early childhood or elementary education.
