A Birdsboro man is being charged with a double homicide that took place Wednesday morning, May 27, after turning himself in to Reading Police two hours after the shooting.

Reading police responded to the sounds of gunshots Wednesday at 2:46 a.m., according to Sgt. John Solecki.

An officer who was only one block away at the time of the shooting found the bodies of Brenda Cisneros, 22, of Reading, and Jhamar S. Goodman, 32, of Temple, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third victim, a man whose name has not been released, was injured in the shooting and is being treated at Reading Hospital, police said.

Nathaniel B. Spencer Jr., 26, of the 200 block of Haycreek Road, Birdsboro, walked into the police station at 4:48 p.m. and told police that he was the shooter.

“He didn’t speak with us or give a statement, so we have no motive at this point,” Solecki said.

The shooting took place at Eighth and Cherry streets, a commercial area in downtown Reading. There were no witnesses, Solecki said, but police are reviewing surveillance footage to track the movements of those involved around the time of the shooting. Police were able to recover the gun near the scene of the shooting.

Spencer is being held on two charges of first-degree murder, one of attempted murder and related charges.
