Twin Valley High School student Cheveay “CJ” Morton was nominated by his 8th grade math teacher, Mr. Jeff Bateman, for United States Achievement Academy Scholarship (USAAS). In November he was selected as one of the USAAS winners of a nominal cash grant.

He also became a certified Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) this June and was awarded at the end of the school year Certificate of Outstanding Academic Achievement for 9th grade History. “He has consistently made Distinguish Honor roll while playing two sports. He’s a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) student who has qualified for college credits by successfully passing the course with an A. He wants to study Engineering in college after he graduates high school in 2018,” said his mother Dawnell Gunn-Morton. “Academics are top priorities here. We are very proud of him.”

Morton also participates in football and Leo Club.

He is the son of Dawnell Gunn-Morton and Chez Morton. His grandparents are Jimmie and Raphina Morton.
