UNION TWP. >> An accident early Thursday evening has left one man dead after a truck reportedly crashed into a tree.

Ralph Overstreet, 55, of Amity was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday evening after a truck crashed into a tree on Shed Road, near Route 724.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office stated Friday that Overstreet was pronounced dead at approximately 7:30 p.m. and that it had been ruled accidental. The cause of death was multiple blunt force and internal injuries.

Though responding officers from state police were not available to provide details of the accident, witnesses at the scene say the large custom truck went down a hill on a curve in the road just after 6 p.m. The truck ran off the side of the road and down an embankment. It then hit a tree and overturned, witnesses said.

Shed Road, between 724 and 345, remained closed for several hours as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
