Hamburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Road

Services: Our Hamburg Church family would like to give you an invitation to our Bible based church. Bible classes for all ages at 10 a.m. Worship hour at 11:05 a.m. Our pastor is Alex DuBee. Contact him at 610-562-7200. He would be happy to talk and answer any questions.

Sabbath Morning: Saturday, Aug. 1, Pastor Alex DuBee will share the Word of God with us. All guests and visitors are invited to a vegetarian fellowship meal after the service in the Fireside Room.

Community Service Center: is open to the public every Monday and Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. for those who qualify.

Food Pantry: is open the third Sunday of each month from 12 to 2 p.m. for those who qualify.

Prayer Meeting: Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Early Morning Bible Study: Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. with Dr. John Goley. A study of Revelations.

The Adventurer & Pathfinder Clubs: meet Wednesday evening. The Adventurers is for members ages 5-8. They meet at our church facility from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Pathfinders is for ages 9-18 and meets at the Blue Mt. SDA Elementary School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (These groups are currently on their summer break)

Blue Mt. Seventh-day Adventist Elementary: Please keep our school in your prayers as we begin the rebuilding process. School will go on in the fall.

First Reformed Church of the United Church of Christ, Third and Pine Streets, Hamburg

Worship Service: We invite everyone to worship with us as we celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Led by Rev. Darryl Hamm. Starts at 9 a.m. and Children’s Sunday School will begin at the same time. Adult Sunday School will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Vacation Bible School: All children in the community are invited to come see the “Superheroes of the Bible” live and in person. The next 2.5 hour program will be held on Monday, Aug. 3. This week’s Superheroes will be King David and Jesus. See how a boy with just faith and a slingshot toppled a giant, and consider how Jesus began his ministry with a series of miracles that amazed all people who saw them. Our evening begins with a light supper at 6 p.m. and will include games, crafts, live music and lots of action. For pre-registration, please call the church office at 610-562-2593.

Bible Study: is held on Monday mornings at 9 a.m., Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

The Northern Berks Community Garden: is looking for volunteers of any skill level to assist with harvesting vegetables to take to our local food banks. They meet at Zion’s Lutheran Church in Perry Township on Mondays from 8 to 10 a.m. and on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Reminder: As you worship in church or look around your neighborhood, you likely see individuals who have little or no family in the area. During these intensely hot days, please remember to check on them to make sure they do not become overheated.

The Bridge Church (TBC), 3561 Old 22

Sunday Morning Worship Service: Times are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. All of our Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries meet downstairs where you will be able to check in your child before each service begins. Bridge Street Kid’s Ministries range in ages from 0 to 4th Grade.

Momentum Youth: on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the TBC Youth Room for students entering 7th through 12th grade. We also host 56 Club for all students entering 5th and 6th grade in the fall. 56 Club students can also be dropped off at the youth room doors. Our adult connect classes and children’s programs will resume on Wednesday nights in Sept.

Fusion Adult Service: If you are between 18-35, join us this Sunday, Aug. 2nd at The Journey Cafe in Hamburg for our bi-monthly service. Worship will be led by Mason Kohler, and Matt Kay will be our guest speaker. Matt is involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. Childcare is available for kids ages 6 and under. Celebrate Recovery: Are you struggling with depression or addiction and needing something more? Join us Monday evenings at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step recovery program where people gain freedom, healing, and accountability for life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. By applying the 8 Recovery Principles within the 12-step program, we open ourselves up to God’s grace so that we can break free. We also open the door to recovery by sharing our experiences and hopes with one another. Open to men and women ages 18 and up. Not just for people struggling with substance abuse. This program is for anyone who feels their life is out of control and is looking for a safe place. Walk-ins welcome anytime! Salem Belleman’s Church, 3540 Belleman’s Church Road, Mohrsville

Salem United Methodist Church, 6th and Main Street, Shoemakersville

Worship Service: is held at 9 a.m. The first morning scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6. The Pastor’s sermon, Getting a Grip, is based on Romans 7:15-25. Bob Kershner is the scripture reader for the morning. Karen Kershner has the Children’s Message. Bible Study classes for all ages are available following worship in Fellowship Hall.

Vacation Bible School: begins Sunday, Aug. 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The theme, In the Beginning, takes us back to meet Adam and Eve and learn God’s plans for us. Fun, games, music, crafts and refreshments bring us all together to study God’s word. Our special offerings this year will go to The Blue Mountain Elementary School to help replace books and materials destroyed by the tornado. There are classes for children ages 3-16. Everyone is invited to attend and bring a friend to receive a prize. Pre-registration is not required.

Administrative Council: will meet on Monday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. We have a full fall season to plan for.

The Laity Academy: is being held at the Inn at Reading Aug. 14-15. There may still be time to register. Help with transportation is available.

Rally Day: is Sept. 13. We will have a Talent Show. Watch for a sign-up sheet and begin practicing.

The Jacobs Brothers: They are coming again! We will welcome them in concert on Sunday morning, Oct. 11. We were truly inspired by their first concert for us, and this one should be another chance for God to bring blessings. Following the morning concert, we will share a congregational meal in Fellowship Hall. Tell your friends and neighbors about this wonderful opportunity to worship.

District Superintendent Gary Nicholson: spent some time this summer in England. He will be coming to our church on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18, to share the highlights of his time in the home of our founder, John Wesley. This is a Connexional meeting that we will share with Fleetwood, Bethany and Salem-Berne churches.

Anniversary Sunday: this year is Oct. 25. Keep the date in mind.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: will begin again with regular meetings. Watch for an announcement.

Operation Christmas Child: As stores begin back-to-school sales, this is a good time to find bargains for Operation Christmas Child. School supplies are always needed, but we especially need socks, t-shirts and underwear for children ages 4-14. There is a bin in the back of the sanctuary for your donations. Our target date for packing will be mid-November. Thank you for your support of this mission program.

Remember: our elderly and shut-in members in your and prayers and with cards, letters, phone calls and visits. You may be old yourself, one day!

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg

Summer Family Services: We mix it up a bit. Family worship services will not always be the third Sunday of the month. Mark your calendar for our next family services with a Make Joyful Noise Offering at the Church Picnic on Aug. 23 at Tilden Park. There will be games for the children following worship!

Rally Day “Around the World”: Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. Join us on our first day of the 2015-2016 Sunday School year as we travel around the world and experience games, songs, food and prayers from various countries.

Thank you: to all those who donated supplies and financial support for Vacation Bible School. Thanks to all the volunteer leaders and assistants. What a blessing to have such a supportive congregation of the children’s programs.

Teacher Appreciation: Sunday, Aug. 2 following worship. Sunday School and Cathechetical teachers and assistants are invited to a breakfast to thank you for all that you do. We will share ideas about the wonder of Jesus and His kingdom and how we can better share his good news with our children, youth and adults.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran “Smoke” Church, 2613 Old Route 22, Hamburg

Encounters Worship: We hope you will join us on Saturday at 5 p.m. in our outdoor chapel (weather permitting). The chapel is located toward the rear of our property and can be accessed through the cemetery. Parking is available at the chapel. If weather is a problem, the service will be held in the Christian Education Building.

Sunday Worship: From now through Aug. is held at 7:45 and 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated at Sunday services this coming weekend by a very special surprise pastor. You may want to attend just to find out what celebrity is going to be in town.

Grief Support Group: will be meeting on Monday, July 31 at 12 p.m. in the fellowship hall. They share a meal and deal with a variety of grief issues. All are welcome to attend.

Friedens Friends: Come join us and welcome in August on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m. Bring a dish and enjoy a lively program with delightful people. All are welcome.

Sunday Worship: We welcome all to join us to celebrate and spread the Light of the Lord. Summer schedule is Bible study 8 a.m. and worship service 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion first Sunday of the month. Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perry Township

Worship: Everyone is invited to worship with us this Saturday, Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. We worship on Saturdays through Sept. 5. Worship is held outdoors, weather permitting. Sunday service is at 9 a.m.

Volunteers Needed: each week in the Northern Berks Community Garden, located at Zion’s Lutheran, on Mondays from 8 to 10 a.m. and on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. There is plenty to harvest and help is needed.

Taste of Hamburg-er Festival: Plan to come and support our first ever stand on Saturday, Sept. 5. Volunteers are needed in one hour shifts to help that day. Sign up at the church.

Sunday, Sept. 27: At 10:15 a.m. Zion’s Lutheran will worship with the people of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Mark the date and plan to stay and enjoy a meal afterward. See meal details in the Sept. church newsletter.

This week at Salem Church: Our Fellowship Coffee was at 8:30 a.m. followed by our Worship Service at 9 a.m. Sunday School for all ages was at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Long presented the message “Christmas in July” based on Luke 2:1-20. Our greeters were Ed and Rosie Manson. Our nursery attendant was Dorinda Moll, and our Junior Church leader was Tammy Wagner.
