Classic cars and hot rods, motorcycles and antique tractors, delicious home-style foods, free kids’ activities and an auction are all on the menu for the 7th annual Pig Roast and Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 19, Salem EC Church, 2150 Old Route 22, Lenhartsville. People from across the region are expected at this popular event, which draws those ready to enjoy a fun, family-friendly Saturday.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. for the car show, which will run from noon to 3 pm. This outdoor event will include classic vehicles, hot rods and motorcycles. Guests will be asked to vote for their favorite and prizes will be awarded to the most popular vehicles. In addition, door prizes featuring a bucket load of car-pampering products will be awarded to random entries.

In conjunction with this show is the antique tractor display and competition. This portion of the event will include classic farm vehicles from around the region.

The pig roast is also a big draw at this event, and organizers plan to roast seven pigs for this, the seventh year of the event. Meals, served on site and “to go” from noon to 6 p.m., will feature generous portions of roasted, pulled pork from local hogs. In addition, each meal will include applesauce, macaroni salad, baked beans and a roll. Drinks are also included with each meal ticket. Advance tickets suggested and walk-ins will be served while supplies last.

Got a sweet tooth? Options will include an array of homemade desserts, available for a donation. Also, Candy’s Homemade Ice Cream, Shoemakersville, will be sold from a trailer out front near the cars.

Special, free activities are available for children all day. Inside, youngsters can visit the Pig Pen activity station to complete art projects, grab a balloon and enter for prize drawings. Outside, the church will host a “Touch the Truck” exhibit as well as a bouncy house.

A Silent Auction is also planned. Items for sale will include theme baskets, gift certificates from area restaurants and stores, home decor, excursions and more. There will also be a Guess the Weight of the Hams contest featuring ham, bacon and ring bologna prizes donated by Leidy’s Meats in Souderton.

Finally, the Keystone Miller Bloodmobile will be on site. Donors may give blood from 12 to 3 p.m. Advance registration is suggested. Those interested may contact the church office, 610-562-5033.

Advance tickets for the Pig Roast are available now for adults. Children under 10 can get their tickets for free. Walk-ins will be served the day of event but only while supplies last.

Those interested in entering the car show should register by Sept. 13 for a reduced rate. They may also register the day of the show. All car show participants will receive a meal ticket with entry fee.
