On Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Warwick County Park will be hosting Community Day in partnership with South Coventry, Warwick and East Nantmeal Townships.

Designed as a fun-filled, interactive and educational day, guests can learn, play and explore with craft vendors and local artists, entertainers, educators, non-profit organizations, school groups and more. County residents and neighbors will learn about the various artistic, recreational and not-for-profit associations they may not realize exist “in their own backyard”.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Briar Bush Nature Center will exhibit live animals and answer “What are you wearing?” From fur, to feathers, to scales, animals have all different kinds of things that cover their bodies. Some coverings keep an animal warm, some help them to disappear and some even help an animal get noticed. See a variety of animals and learn how what they wear helps them survive.

Throughout the day, Juggler Randy Lyons will roam the venue juggling a wide variety of equipment, including spinning plates, Chinese yo-yos, cigar boxes, poi swings and more. Randy factors in opportunities for visitors to try their luck at juggling and aims to give all ages confidence to try a new activity.

Additional entertainment and activities planned include ranger-led hikes, pony rides, wagon rides, portrait drawings, emergency equipment displays, face painting, an orienteering course and archery. The Friends of Warwick County Park, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Rita’s Italian Ice will provide food concessions.

Community Day will serve as a drop off location for two local charities. Coventry Food Pantry’s Weekend Backpack Program wishes for pasta sauce, fruit, jelly, side dishes, canned pasta and meat, peanut butter and paper products. “In Ian’s Boots” is collecting gently used shoes, winter boots and soccer cleats.

Parking and admission are free. The event is sponsored by the Chester County Board of Commissioners, Facilities & Parks Department, Friends of Warwick County Park and South Coventry, Warwick and East Nantmeal Townships.

Warwick County Park, 382 County Park Road, Pottstown, is located four miles west of Route 100 off Route 23 in the village of Knauertown. For additional information, please call 610-469-1916 or visit www.chesco.org/ccparks.
