Make a Difference Day is a USA TODAY initiative celebrating the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors. It is a national day of volunteerism celebrated annually, for the past 20 years, on the fourth Saturday of October.

This year, Honey Brook Borough and Honey Brook Township are collaborating for a “Share the Warmth” Make a Difference Day coat and food drive sponsored by the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce and the Honey Brook Community Partnership.

Collection bins for new or gently worn and laundered coats for men, women and children have been placed at various locations. The coat collection began on Aug. 17 and will end Oct. 16.

The distribution of coats will take place on Make a Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Honey Brook Township building, 500 Suplee Road, Honey Brook, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Donations of non-perishable food items for the Honey Brook Food Pantry will be accepted at the Honey Brook Township building that day. Visit the Pantry’s website for needs and suggested food donations, www. honeybrookfoodpantry.org.

Coat collection bins are located at Citadel (Thorndale and Parkesburg branches), M&T Bank (Honey Brook branch), Susquehanna Bank (Honey Brook branch), Wimpy and Dee’s Diner, Honeybrook Golf Club, Living God Lutheran Church, Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, Honey Brook Methodist Church, Tel Hai Retirement Community, Stoltzfus Market and the Honey Brook Elementary School.
