The Chester County Commissioners and the Chester County Workforce Development Board will hold a business lunch, discussion and orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 1 to officially kick off Platform to Employment (P2E), the nationally recognized program that addresses the specific needs of long-term unemployed people in Chester County.
The event will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at PA CareerLink at the Chester County and United Way Financial Stability Center office located at 479 Thomas Jones Way in Exton.
The event will welcome the first cohort selected in Chester County to participate in the P2E program. County business leaders and P2E executives will also be present, and an overview of the P2E program goals and expectations will be discussed.
P2E is a five-week preparatory program, created by Connecticut-based “The WorkPlace” to address the need for the long-term unemployed to return to work and the employer need to recruit skilled workers. The program provides job readiness training, personal support services, financial counseling and paid work experience with the intent to secure jobs for individuals who have experienced long-term unemployment (27 or more weeks). Chester County’s commitment to this program is the first in Pennsylvania.
Individuals selected to participate in P2E, along with business leaders, the Chester County Commissioners and P2E executives will be available for questions/interviews at this event.
Lunch is included. Please RSVP your attendance to Rebecca Brain at rbrain@chesco.org. Rebecca can also be contacted for more information by email or by telephone at 610-344-6279 or 484-798-8710.
