U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $68,572 in grants to the Lyons Fire Company No. 1 in Berks County for operations and safety.

“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe,” said Senator Casey. “This money will help provide Berks County’s firefighters with the resources they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve.”

Funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG), which aims to strengthen the health and safety of the nation’s first responders and those they serve.
