A Fleetwood man walking his dog early on Aug. 31 discovered a fire at a garage on Franklin Street.

According to a Fleetwood Borough Police report issued by Chief Steven Stinsky, at about 1:22 a.m., a man walking his dog in the 100 block of Madeira Alley noticed smoke coming from a detached garage located at the rear of 115 N. Franklin Street in Fleetwood and immediately called 911.

Police arrived on the scene and controlled the fire with fire extinguishers until the fire department arrived within minutes to fully extinguish the fire before the building became fully involved, according to the report.

“It appears that the fire started on the outside of the building and is being considered a fire of suspicious origin,” reports Stinsky.
