As 2015 marks 14th anniversary of September 11 attacks, Walnut Woods will be holding their annual Flag Raising Ceremony – the community is welcome to attend.

Walnut Woods Retirement Community hosts the event each year to honor the victims by taking a few moments to gather and remember as the American Flag is raised in their memory. During this ceremony, bagpipes will be played.

“We have been doing that event for 3 years now and I would never think about taking it away as we find its very important to remember all of those who have lost their loved ones,” said Jessica Gumbert, enrichment coordinator at Walnut Woods.

Mayor Marianne Deery, State Rep. David Maloney are expected to be in attendance, in addition to members of the local fire department – Boyertown Area Fire and Rescue.

The ceremony begins at 4 p.m. Walnut Woods is located at 35 N. Walnut Street, Boyertown.
