Merchants on Main Street, Kutztown will host a Chocolate Crawl Scavenger Hunt on Sept. 24, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Chocolate surprises will await crawlers at each merchant, and prizes will be awarded by lottery drawing at end of the quest.

“Each participating merchant is working on coming up with a creative, out of the ordinary chocolate treat related to their specific business for chocolate crawlers,” said Jim Springer, crawl organizer and owner of Dunkleberger’s Jewelers.

All participants will be given a card at the beginning of their crawl to get stamped at the 10 stores involved. Each merchant will donate a prize to be awarded at the end of the hunt, as well as supply various chocolate delights for visitors to receive upon their arrival in the store. When at the final destination, participants can put their cards into a bin to be chosen for a lottery prize.

The lottery drawing will take place at Young Ones record store, 26 South Whiteoak Street, starting at 9 p.m. Participants will be eligible for prizes when cards are stamped at all 10 stores.

“The Bicentennial celebration in Kutztown this summer had a huge impact on bringing the community together,” said Springer. “I hope to continue the excitement that was built up by the Kutztown Community Partnership with this tasty scavenger hunt for all to enjoy.”

Stores involved with the Chocolate Crawl are: Dunkelberger’s Jewelry, Paisley & Company, Jackie & Daughter Flowers, Holy Crepe, Vynecrest on Main, Sorrelli Jewelry, Firefly Bookstore, Adam n’ Eve Boutique, Pop’s Malt Shoppe and Young Ones.

Participants can receive their stamp cards and start the crawl at any of these stores.
