The Hay Creek Festival was an all weekend event starting on Friday and ending on Sunday, Sept. 11, 12 and 13 at Historic Joanna Furnace in Morgantown.
Even the rain on Saturday couldn’t keep the people away from all the fun activities and cool attractions. There was something there for everybody from kids making candles to adults looking at old cars and shopping. Everything at most of the little shops were all hand made from toys to glass making.
“Each year, 1,500 craftsmen, artisans, interpreters, mechanical technology folks, food service workers and parking aids (all volunteers) bring the Joanna Furnace community to life through the years 1791 to 1950,” according to the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association in their event release.
The festival also included demonstrations such as wood cutting at the sawmill and glass blowing, wagon rides around the festival, candle making, live music and entertainment.
