Bark For Life will be filling up the Oley Fairgrounds on Sunday, Oct. 4. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Benefitting the American Cancer Society and organized by a handful of volunteers, this event is being held for its third year – and it continues to get bigger and better according to organizers.

The opening ceremony begins at 11:15 a.m. The ceremony will be followed by an informal lap around the vendors. Bark For Life raises awareness for canines with cancer and also for canines who serve as caregivers for those affected by cancer.

“90 percent of all cancer research is transferable to your canine,” says organizer and survivor Bob Olock.

Bark For Life will be featuring a pet costume contest at 12:30 p.m., a cruise in, a quoit tournament, a Wildkat Guitar in Wine Red raffle (and other raffles), music by local artists and Patt Vet’s Photo Booth with photos by photographer Gary Hall. Food will be provided by Sweet Beginnings of Boyertown.

Rescues will be on hand, in addition to the PJ Project. The PJ Project collects new and gently used pajamas for children across the region.

Penny Pierson, event organizer, says this cause is very close to her heart. “I’ve been in it since year two. I decided to take my dog to the park to raise money for cancer and I’ve stayed ever since.”

The event will have the entirety of the Oley Fairgrounds at their disposal – plenty of room for kids and canines of all ages. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

All proceeds benefit the ACS, under the umbrella of Relay For Life of Boyertown.

Bark For Life of Oley/Boyertown will be holding their Annual Spaghetti Supper on Nov. 28 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Good Sheppard Church in Boyertown. The 2016 Relay For Life of Boyertown will be held June 25.
