On Sept. 26, Pope Francis provided his first mass to the continent since his election to pope in 2013. In coalition with many other ambulance agencies throughout Pennsylvania, Kutztown Area Transport Service, Inc. was selection by local officials to be one of the closest EMS teams to the event. This secure team of about 10 ambulance agencies was one of the principle providers for those attending the mass.

Chief Rodney Freeman was humbled upon notification that Kutztown Area Transport Service was selected for this responsibility.

“Kutztown Area Transport Service prides itself in dedication to public service,” he said. “Never would I have imagined we would have been selected as one of the elite few to take place in this historical event.”
