On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, Conestoga Christian School will hold the 42nd annual benefit Chicken Barbecue and Country Auction.
Activities begin Friday with chicken barbecue available between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Drive through service is open from 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church. Have fun shopping at our Craft Sale and Gift Certificate Store while attending our Chicken Barbecue.
Purchase your discounted chicken dinner tickets in advance at the school office by Wednesday, Oct. 14 at noon. Chicken dinner tickets can also be purchased at the door. The dinner includes half a barbecued chicken, applesauce, chips, a dinner roll and butter, a whoopie pie and a Turkey Hill drink. Additional half chickens are also available for an extra cost. Chicken dinner tickets are available at the school office, from any school family and at the door.
Friends, family and community are invited to watch an alumni soccer game held Friday night at 7 p.m. after the barbecue. It’s a great time to connect and fellowship with friends at our beautiful soccer field.
Saturday activities include the traditional Country Auction, beginning at 9 a.m. The Craft Sale and Gift Certificate store will both be open. A breakfast of egg sandwiches, donuts and coffee will be available beginning at 8 a.m. This year, for the first time ever, WJTL and the “Kids Cookie Break” will be featured in our children’s area from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can also enjoy entertainment in the kid’s area with activities, games and a bounce house starting at 10 a.m. With the purchase of a wristband, children are able to play all day in a safe, supervised environment! Our Food Tent will be serving delicious homemade apple dumplings, pork barbecue sandwiches, hamburgers, chicken corn soup, French fries and ice cream.
This year’s main auction items will include handmade quilts, beef, lamb and pork meat packages, artwork, furniture, travel opportunities and items donated by our patrons, CCS friends and area businesses. A special feature item our auction this year a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, which will be sold at 12:30 p.m.
Each class at CCS has designed a themed basket to be auctioned at 10:45 a.m. Some of the themes for this year’s baskets are: Antique/Hidden Treasures, CCS Sports, Art Party, Gaming, Home Decorating, Eagles, Mother/Daughter, Hunting, Fishing, Spa, Outdoor Country, Pets and Ice Cream.
The quilts will be auctioned at 1 p.m. They are a popular item sold at our auction. A lot of hard work has gone into these gorgeous quilts, even our elementary students helped tie the knots on one.
