On Sept. 21 at approximately 7:45 p.m., New Holland Police responded to a burglary in progress at the 500 block of East Jackson Street in the New Holland Borough.

Upon arrival, police encountered Thomas Kostingo laying against the side of a residence. Several used syringes were found in Kostingo’s possession at this time. The homeowner stated that Kostingo had attempted to gain access to the house by checking several doors to see if they were unlocked. Kostingo admitted that he had entered the house briefly through the garage.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Kostingo had stolen items from a vehicle approximately an hour prior. Kostingo was then arrested and charged with the following: Theft from a motor vehicle, Possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering and prowling at night time and criminal trespass.

Kostingo was transported to Central Booking for arraignment. Adult probation also placed a detainer on Kostingo at this time.

Terre Hill man cited for Public Drunkenness

On Sept. 25 at 12:40 p.m., New Holland Police responded to North Railroad Avenue and East Broad Street in the New Holland Borough after the report of a suspicious male laying along the roadway.

Upon arrival, police found Aaron Scofield, 38, of Terre Hill, laying along the road. Scofield became agitated and began screaming at emergency personnel when they approached him. Officers and EMS staff on scene determined that Scofield was under the influence of synthetic marijuana or a similar substance.

Scofield was transported to Ephrata Community Hospital for further medical evaluation. Scofield was cited for Public Drunkenness.
