Faced with an unusual abundance of both black and orange-coated cats, Humane Pennsylvania (HPA) has decided that an adoption promotion is the order of the day or, in this case, month. In recognition of the upcoming Halloween holiday, one that’s a favorite of children and adults alike, HPA has reduced the adoption fee for more than 50 orange or black cats currently available for adoption in both Berks and Lancaster County facilities.

To encourage adoptions, the “Meowlloween” cats are available for adoption for a low adoption fee starting Oct. 1 and running through Oct. 31. All adoptions include Humane Pennsylvania’s Thirty Day Adoption Health Guarantee, spaying or neutering (prior to adoption), vaccinations (including current rabies vaccination), microchip and more. Normal adoption policies apply.

To view many of the cats available for adoption at Humane Pennsylvania shelters, visit http://humanepa.org/adopt-2/ or stop by the shelters in person. The Humane Society of Berks County is located at 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading. Regular adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday and Friday. Call the shelter at 610-921-2348 for more information about adoptable animals in Reading.

The Humane League of Lancaster County is located at 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. Call the shelter at 717-393-6551 for more information about adoptable animals in Lancaster.

The vision of the Humane Pennsylvania is to ensure that all animals and people have access to the support and services they need to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. Since 1900, Humane Pennsylvania and its partners have been leaders in animal welfare. Operating adoption centers, veterinary clinics, an equine rescue facility and public dog park, Humane Pennsylvania is the largest network of animal welfare facilities in Pennsylvania, serving tens of thousands of animals across Pennsylvania each year.
