On Oct. 4, State Police at Reading responded to a one-vehicle crash on Black Matte Road in Union Township.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. as the driver, F. Scott Winslow, 44, of Glenmoore was traveling south. The driver stated that three deer ran out in front of his vehicle, and he used evasive maneuvers while trying not to hit the deer. His efforts to avoid the deer resulted in his vehicle striking a tree.
Winslow was uninjured in the accident and will be cited pending further investigation.
Police seek information in Rockland Township theft
On Oct. 3 at approximately 2:36 p.m., an incident of theft by deception occurred on Beaver Creek Road in Rockland Township.
The unknown actor(s) called the victim, a 40-year-old male from Fleetwood, stating that his brother was in a car accident and was then involved in a physical altercation. The actor related that he was then going to kill the victim’s brother if he did not pay. The victim was instructed by the actor to go buy as many prepaid phone cards as he could and read the numbers on them.
The victim complied in fear of his brother being harmed. The victim then contacted his brother and found out that he was fine, and the phone call was a scam.
