Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department’s newly implemented emergency services capabilities will be the focal point of the Open House and Recruitment Day at the Reiffton Station (46 West 33rd Street) this Saturday, Oct. 17.

The fire department assumed responsibilities for EMS duties in March following the township’s decision to discontinue services formerly provided by the Exeter Ambulance Association. From March through September, neighboring Muhlenburg Ambulance Association provided ambulances, medical equipment and manpower. On Sept 17, however, Exeter Fire Department became “fully loaded” in the words of Chief Robert Jordan and took over full EMS responsibilities.

The theme for the open house is a “meet and greet,” said Jordan. “We want to introduce our new EMS unit to the community and to field questions from residents about our services and capabilities.” The event will be held from 12 to 3 p.m.
