UPPER POTTSGROVE >> Former township commissioner John Bealer won two years on the board Tuesday night, beating a Democrat by just 27 votes.

According to unofficial results from Montgomery County, Bealer won 389 votes to 362 for Tyrone Parker, a Democrat and former Philadelphia police officer making his first run for public office.

Bealer, who ran as a Republican will complete the two years left on the term of Commissioner Russell Noll whose August resignation spawned a contested race after the spring primary gave the impression it would be a quiet race.

Uncontested for the two other open seats on the board were chairman Elwood Taylor and France Krazalkovich.

Taylor won 661 votes and Krazalkovich 681.
