At 10:30 a.m. this morning, Bill Cain, Principal of Exeter Township Senior High School, released the following statement:

This morning we discovered a threat indicating that there could be a bomb in the building set for noon today. In response, we will be dismissing students at 11 a.m.

Normal bus transportation will be provided. We have cancelled all events in the building this evening. Events or practices taking place outside the building may proceed as scheduled, but no one will be allowed access to the building.

The Exeter police will be using bomb dogs to clear the building this afternoon. The building will be locked down and no one will be admitted until it is time for school tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow morning we will be doing visual bag checks as the students arrive for school. All students will have to open any bags they are bringing into school to be inspected by a school district employee. I recommend that students carry only those items that are essential for school tomorrow. If you are dropping your children off at school tomorrow, please do not drop them off before 7:00 if possible. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes; however, taking steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff must be our top priority. To that end, please be assured that when we catch the person who made this threat, he or she will be charged with a felony and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, in addition to being subject to all appropriate school consequences.

Anyone who has information that may lead to discovering who made this threat is asked to call the Exeter police at 610-779-1940.

I also request that you speak to your children about the seriousness of making a threat either verbally or in written form. Finally, I want to assure you that the safety of your children is our primary concern and that we will deal with each situation in a manner that, in our professional opinion, leads to the best possible end result. Thank you for your help and support.
