Trey Freeman, 12, and Kyle Falcon, 11, made the Olympic Development Program soccer team.
According to the Olympic Development Program website http://www.epysa.org/odp/, ODP aims “to be the premier provider of quality soccer training to elite youth soccer players in the United States and guide them to identification at the national level.”
“Since 1977 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program has identified and trained players at the elite level,” according to the website. “ODP provides supplemental training and competitive opportunities for players with the goal of advancement to US Youth Soccer Region 1 teams and ultimately, national team selections. Through training and regional competition, ODP also provides players with exposure to college coaches. Eastern Pennsylvania ODP has been highly successful at the national level winning several US Youth Soccer ODP Championships. Most of our players successfully transition to college play and several have developed into professional players and have represented the United States in the Olympics and World Cup.”
Leading scorers and also captains of the Twin Valley Vipers playing in the Delco 4 League, Freeman and Falcon led their team to win the Championship in 2013 of the Dillsburg Dual Shootout, 2nd place of the Dillsburg Dual Shootout in 2015; and 2013 Championship of the Hempfield Adidas Fall Classic.
Freeman has played soccer since he was 5 starting off in Latrobe, PA playing for Loyalhanna United Soccer Club.
“We moved here almost four years ago when he started playing for the Twin Valley Soccer Club under the coaching of Mark Moyer and Scott Gardner,” writes Freeman’s mother, Jessica. “He has excelled under their coaching and was encouraged by his fellow teammate, Kyle Falcon, and his father Brian Falcon, to tryout for Philadelphia Union Summer Select Team which he was selected to play along with Kyle.”
Playing with Kyle this year for Summer Select their team won the Victory Cup in Downingtown and the Capital Cup Harrisburg City Islanders.
Falcon has played for Twin Valley Soccer Club since the age of 5, playing both spring and fall each season. He joined the Viper team under coaches Mark Moyer and Scott Gardner at age 8. He tried out for and made the Philadelphia Union Summer Select team in both 2014 and 2015 under the leadership of coach AJ Cronrath. His team won three out of four tournaments, which consisted of teams representing the best players in the region, including Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. He completed Reading United’s Winter Junior Academy training in 2014 and is enrolled to do so this winter, 2015. He most recently tried out for and secured a position on Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Associations Olympic Development Program U12 Boys team.
Their other achievements on the TV Vipers include Team formed summer of 2012, Fall 2012 finished in 3rd place in DELCO Division 6, Fall 2012 4th place in second bracket out of 32 teams at Dillsburg Tournament, Spring 2013 finished 2nd place in Division 4, Fall 2013 undefeated 1st place in Division 4, Fall 2013 1st place in top bracket out of 32 teams at Dillsburg Tournament, Fall 2013 1st place in Division 1 Travel at Hempfield Tournament, Spring 2014 finished 1st place in Division 4, Fall 2014 finished regular season in 2nd for play-offs in DELCO Division 4, Fall 2014 finished 4th in top bracket out of 24 teams at Dillsburg Tournament, Spring 2015 finished 3rd in DELCO Division 3, Fall 2015 secured play-off spot in DELCO Division 4, and Fall 2015 2nd place in second bracket out of 28 teams at Dillsburg Tournament.
