Lieutenant Timothy Seyfert from the Shoemakesville Fire Company announced that the fire company is holding its annual Christmas Tree Sale fundraiser that they hold every year. The sale will start on Black Friday and continue up until Christmas.
“This will be our 6th year of selling Christmas Trees,” said Seyfert. “The purpose of the sale is to raise money that will go towards keeping the community safe.”
He said the money will pay for training, new equipment for the trucks and newer and safer turnout gear for the firefighters.
“This is significant to the community because it helps support the completely 100 percent volunteer fire company. Volunteer Fire Companies rely on fundraisers to keep their doors open and to continue to provide services to the community. Without Volunteer Fire Companies municipalities would have to spend millions on providing paid fire departments,” said Seyfert.
The other benefits to the community is that it is located in town, he said.
“The trees are freshly cut and families can come out and look over our selection and pick the tree that is right for them,” he said.
The sale is located right next to the fire house in the pavilion, at 300 Church Ave., Shoemakersville.
The hours are Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
