Ryerss Farm For Aged Equines on Route 23 in Warwick Township hosts its annual Holiday Open House on Dec. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m.
As told by horses Henry and Omen
“We are so excited,” said little Omen, a miniature horse. “It’s just a few more days and the human children will come streaming up the driveway and making their way into the barn to see Santa Clause.”
Omen is fit and trim after his treatment for a thyroid condition he had when he first came to Ryerrs.
“Henry and I have our red Santa hats on. It has been so much fun walking around the stalls and getting our friends and the staff to give us hugs and treats. Come visit with all the horses who will be in the barn to greet everyone,” said Omen.
“A special treat every year is the folks bringing their cameras so they can take photos with Santa. You can also get your photos with the horses, Omen and I have been practicing giving big smiles with our Santa hats on,” said Henry.
Henry is the bay Dutch Warm blood gelding, a handsome and friendly guy who spent most of his life competing in dressage on the show circuit before retiring here.
Ryerss Gift Shop will be open. Sales from “Horses of Chester County,” a poster created by local photographer and artist Ginny Jenkins, will benefit Ryerss Farm.
Refreshments, including hot chocolate and holiday cookies, will be served in the President’s office.
“You can learn how to sponsor a horse or give your favorite horse a gift for Christmas!” said Omen.
Founded in 1888 on 383 acres in Chester County, the non-profit organization provides retired and sometimes abused horses with their forever home.
“Thanks to all of you who have come to and supported our events this past year! Don’t miss our annual Holiday Open House. We wish you a very Happy Holiday Season and a Wonderful New Year!” said Gail Morris, Board of Managers.
