South Schuylkill Garden Club met recently to participate in a workshop on creating a Holiday Wreath with Forget-Me-Not Florists of Pioneer Evergreen Farms in Orwigsburg.

Ken Fetteroff Jr., owner of Forget-Me-Not Florists and his amazing team of designers assisted club members in arranging and decorating their pine wreaths. The wreaths were made of Fraser Fir in a round or circular shape. Fraser Fir was the most popular evergreen chosen for this type of application because of it soft needles. Garden Club members decorated the wreaths with natural as well as artificial materials.

The designs on the wreath were tied together with many types of seasonal ribbon. Ken spoke to the group about the types of pine and fir trees used to make wreaths this time of the year. He also spoke on how to maintain evergreen wreaths throughout the season. His pointers on keeping wreaths looking vibrant are to display wreaths out of direct sunlight and mist them daily to refresh the greens. Club members had an enjoyable learning experience under the guidance of Forget-Me-Not Florists.
