On Nov. 22 at approximately 2:32 a.m., State Police from the Reading station responded to Route 222 in Maxatawny Township, about a half north of the Virginville exit, after receiving several reports of an unknown male walking in traffic around the location.

Upon arriving at the scene, the man, a 33 year old from York, was located walking on the southbound shoulder of the road. After observing and making contact with the man, police discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol to a degree that caused him to be a danger to himself and/or the public.

Subsequently, the man was taken into custody and transported to the Berks County Central Booking Center for a detox. The man was cited for Public Drunkenness. Police have not released his name.
