We Agape You, Inc. hosts bake sales every weekend in January outside of the Elverson Walmart to benefit housing and employment for veterans.

“Crystal Yeagley, manager of the Elverson Walmart, has had a huge role in supporting the local community,” said We Agape You President Randolph Simmons.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Wernersville, the local nonprofit group, We Agape You, Inc, created The W.A.Y. Group, a 90 day program designed to give participants employment training, housing assistance, and automobile purchase assistance.

“Target participants are veterans, the homeless, individuals with criminal records, and the needy. The program is unique because it provides services to participants that will allow them to become self-sufficient, rather than offering a “band aid” that keeps individuals reliant on handouts,” according to Simmons.

W.A.Y. Cookies and other goods will be for sale. The bake sales fund The W.A.Y. Group program.

He said that the organization’s mission to is “to mirror Christ’s agape love in serving the members of our community without discrimination.”

“We address what must be in place to heal a person’s body, mind, and spirit through rapid housing services and other outreach to all in need,” he said.

While We Agape You has held bake sales in the past at Elverson and numerous other Walmart locations, The W.A.Y. Cookie is a new addition.

“The creator of the cookie recipe and lead baker is Gloria Thompson. Ms. Thompson holds a ServSafe certificate that ensures safe food preparation and handling. Baking and packaging is performed in the kitchen of Mi Casa Su Casa on Penn Street, Reading, a state licensed commercial kitchen,” said Simmons.

Simmons noted that the agency is expanding it’s services from Berks County into Chester and surrounding counties.

“Which is why it is important that we are hosting the bake sale at this Walmart location. The W.A.Y. Group program will be open to veterans, homeless, and other needy in the Elverson community. The Elverson Walmart store manager Crystal Yeagley has been very supportive of our mission and has ensured we are able to fundraise to help as many veterans in the community as we can,” said Simmons.
