The single family home at 888 Old Airport Road could be a new home for ambulance crew members, store little league baseball equipment, and also store old township records.

The Amity Township Board of Supervisors purchased the property last summer for $155,000.

Board members are reviewing sketch plans for the three future little league fields, 96 parking spaces, stormwater improvements, and two driveway alternatives.

Township Engineer John Weber said the driveways will require low-volume driveway highway occupancy permits from PennDOT because it fronts Old Airport Road.

The board authorized him on Jan. 20 to present the sketch plans to the Parks & Recreation Board on Feb. 1.

Although several board members had previously recommended that the house be razed to improve driveway sight distance requirements to Old Airport Road, Supervisor Terry L. Jones suggested the house could be living quarters for ambulance crew members.

He said the house’s operational kitchen, living room, and bedrooms could be used for 24/7 ambulance service for two to four people.

Public Works Foreman Alistair Howell-Clarke said the township could store its 50 or more boxes of records in the finished basement.

Baseball equipment could be stored in the house’s garage.

The fields will replace the field at the Myron S. Wheeler Recreation Area behind the Amity Township Municipal Building at 2004 Weavertown Road.

That field will be unusable as the township constructs a new salt shed.
