In celebration of Random Acts of Kindness (Feb. 17) and in conjunction with their 15 year business anniversary, Comfort Keepers, West Lawn, will be awarding 15 Berks County seniors with a “Caregiver for the Day,” which includes four hours of complimentary non-medical, in-home care.
Random Acts of Kindness Day provides the opportunity for Comfort Keepers to give back to the community. According to the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation: “As people tap into their own generous human spirit and share kindness with one another, they discover for themselves the power of kindness to affect positive change in their lives and the lives around them. When kindness is expressed, healthy relationships are created, community connections are nourished and people are inspired to pass kindness on.”
It is in this spirit that Comfort Keepers will be participating in the Random Acts of Kindness initiative.
According to Family Caregiver Alliance, 65 percent of older persons with long term care needs rely exclusively on family and friends to provide assistance. Not only will 15 seniors receive a Random Act of Kindness, but their family caregivers will benefit as well.
Comfort Keepers assists those living at home with the activities of daily living so that they can continue to enjoy the comforts of their homes while maintaining the safe, healthy and independent lifestyle they desire.
Fifteen nominees will receive a “Caregiver for a Day” for four hours of complimentary non-medical, in-home care that can include any of Comfort Keepers services including light housekeeping, medication reminders, meal preparation, dementia care, incontinence care, end-of-life care and personal hygiene care. Nominees must reside in Berks County and live in eligible zip codes. Chosen nominees will be notified by Comfort Keepers staff. Scheduling may be subject to staff availability.
Nomination forms are available online at www.ComfortKeepers.com/BerksCounty-PA, and can be requested by calling 610-678-8000 or e-mailing WendyKerschner@ComfortKeepers.com. Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 29.
