A Jeep rolled several times after sliding on ice, another vehicle sustained damage from dislodged ice and a third vehicle driven by a Kutztown teen sheared off a utility pole and rolled down an embankment.

According to State Police Reading, Andrew Vancott, 38, Kutztown, was driving west on Long Lane north of Route 222 in Maxatawny Township at 4:28 p.m. on Jan. 25 when his 1995 Jeep Wrangler slid on an ice patch in the roadway and the Jeep’s rear began to spin. The vehicle then veered off the roadway and struck a snowbank causing the Jeep to roll over twice. The vehicle came to rest on all four wheels on the shoulder of the roadway.

Vancott was not injured. He was wearing his seat belt.

Another ice related incident occurred after snow and ice dislodged from the top of a trailer.

According to State Police, Efrain Gonzolez, 46, of Allentown, was driving south on Route 222 south near the bypass at 9:42 a.m. on Jan. 29.

Snow and ice from a trailer, from an unknown vehicle and driver unknown, struck Gonzolez’ “windshield causing disabling damage,” according to State Police.

Gonzolez was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

On Jan. 30, State Police report that a 17-year-old Kutztown teen was driving south on Little Round Top Road half mile south of Long Road in Greenwich Township when she failed to negotiate a sharp right curve, exited the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

“The impact sheared the pole off,” according to State Police.

After impact, the 2006 Toyota 4Runner went down an embankment and rolled onto its driver’s side, coming to rest on the east side of the roadway on its driver’s side.

The driver sustained suspected minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

Little Round Top Road was closed while crews repaired the pole.
