Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site will commemorate African American history month with a talk about the African American experience at Southeastern Pennsylvania iron furnaces. The experience at these sites differed dramatically from that in urban centers of the United States.

Frances Delmar, the park’s Chief of Interpretation and Education, will share her research on the minority experience and will be available to sign copies of her book, The African American Experience at Hopewell Furnace.

The program will take place at 2 p.m. on Feb. 20 in the park Visitor Center. In case of inclement weather, the program will be postponed until Saturday, Feb. 27 at the same time. Please call the park at 610-582-8773 if in any doubt about the program’s status.

Please note that this is a free program, and all are welcome.

Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site is located at 2 Mark Bird Lane, Elverson.
