On Wednesday, March 23, Boyertown Area School District held its Third Annual Staff Wellness Day, a half-day event that provided workshops focused on the integration of wellness activities in the community.

With everything from yoga to archery and stress management to sport stacking, teachers had a wide variety of activities from which to choose. Activities covered each level of physical ability, from health presentations, walking scavenger hunts, to fast-paced volleyball games. Teachers were even invited to participate in the Heart Healthy Iron Chef Competition, featuring special judges superintendent Dr. Richard Faidley and assistant superintendent Mr. Robert Scoboria. Each activity was designed to provide valuable insight on the importance of wellness activities in the classroom.

“Our vision is to empower a community of healthy people,” said Boyertown High School health and wellness teacher Mrs. Lucie Bergeyova. “We strive to educate and support all students, staff and community in embracing healthy lifestyles.”

“Promoting staff wellness helps build a strong foundation for a successful and stable school District,” Mrs. Bergeyova continued. “Healthy teachers are happy teachers.”

Boyertown Area School District believes that through wellness initiatives like Staff Wellness Day teachers will be able to better reach all students and provide valuable education on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
