On April 5 and 9, Logan J. Carbaugh, 17, of Shoemakersville, worked on a community service project for Maidencreek Township Park in Blandon. Logan is a junior at Fleetwood High School and has been a member of BSA Pack and Troop #183 since first grade, starting as a “Tiger Cub.”

Now, Logan hopes to earn and achieve the coveted Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank and honor within Boy Scouting, prior to age 18.

To move him toward that goal, Logan was asked to design, produce and install a professional signboard that delivers and creates awareness on the negative effects of graffiti and vandalism in communities and at the Maidencreek Park.

Logan led more than 30 teams members in power washing, sanding and re-staining of the pavilion posts, which also had been vandalized and marked up.

This Eagle Project brings Logan one step closer to ultimately achieving the Eagle Scout rank. An Eagle Scout Project gives a “Life” rank Boy Scout the opportunity to plan, develop and give leadership to fellow Scouts, adult and leaders in a service project, which in turn assists with rank advancement and also benefits the surrounding community.
