The Boyertown Area Choral Association begins its 26th season with two FREE spring concerts. The first will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1749 S. Main Street in Bechtelsville. The choir will also perform on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. at The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ at 35 W. Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown.

Directed by Boyertown alumni Donna M. House and Donna Jean Marshall, the community chorus will perform several familiar favorites, such as the beloved American folk song “Shenandoah” or the 1978 pop hit “Dust in the Wind” (featuring the men of the chorus) with its haunting message: “I close my eyes only for a moment, and the moment’s gone…”

The concert also includes lesser-known songs that will leave a lasting impression. The ladies’ number, “Prayer of the Children,” sheds light on the plight of the world’s most innocent victims by asking, “Can you hear the prayer of the children?” The entire choir offers the timeless message, “It’s up to us to be the change, and even though we all can still do more, there’s so much to be thankful for,” in “Thankful,” an inspirational song recorded by Josh Groban. And the glory of music is celebrated in “The Awakening,” a dramatic work that proclaims, “Let music live!”

Both concerts are free and open to the public. A cookie reception will follow the May 1 performance at Good Shepherd UCC.
