Richard I. Hart, president of Richard I. Hart Insurance Co., Mt. Penn, presented a $91,000 check to the Amity Township Board of Supervisors at it’s April 20 meeting.

Hart said Amity’s check is the eighteenth largest check out of 216 participating Pennsylvania municipalities.

“This is a tribute to the management of Amity Township and a low loss ratio,” said Hart.

“Workers’ compensation is returning over 90 percent of the premium.”

Board members unanimously reaffirmed that dogs must be under the control of their handler, but also now “on a leash,” when they are in the township’s seven parks.

The township will advertise the ordinance change.

The seven parks include Amity Community Park, Weavertown Road; Hill Road Recreational Area, Myron S. Wheeler Recreational Area (at the Amity Township Municipal Building), Weavertown Road; Locust Grove Recreational Area, Earlville; Amity Park Road Recreation Area, Lake Drive Recreation Area, and Monocacy Hill Recreation Area, Geiger Road.

Amity Police Chief Andrew Kensey recommended that the board approve the donation of a new security system from MQ2 Security, Limekiln Road, Birdsboro.

He said the total price is valued at $4,795.
